Great article by the Bury Times highlighting our problems:

AN HISTORIC cricket club has launched an urgent appeal for support to ensure it can survive the effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Committee members at Stand Cricket Club fear that without the Government and public’s help, the future may look bleak for the 167-year-old institution.

Paul Wilkinson, chairman of Stand CC, told the Bury Times: “No one really knows as and when this is going to end. That’s the thing.

“If the Government say at some point we can play from August to September we could raise some money. But if we play no games you are possibly looking at 18 months of inactivity. So that is beginning to look critical. And not just for us, but other clubs as well.”

To help raise the vital funds Stand CC has launched a GoFundMe appeal.

It is also hoping to receive a grant from the Government’s sports champion, Sport England.

Mr Wilkinson said the funds donated by members of the public so far shows how vital the club is considered by the community, as he adding his thanks to donors.
